At our Áurea Restaurant we cultivate the values of simplicity, authenticity and originality. We celebrate Lisbon’s culinary traditions, recreating and reinterpreting recipes from our capital. Chef Pedro Mendes, inspired by the influences of the South, Alentejo and Algarve, gives our cuisine a touch of creativity, where each dish is a masterpiece steeped in history.
Each dish we serve is more than a meal; it’s a narrative that unfolds as you savour our creations. We invite you to embark on this unique gastronomic journey, where each flavour reveals Lisbon’s authentic roots.

Pedro Mendes, born in Carnaxide, began his career in the field of Law, but his passion for cooking led him to explore the world of gastronomy. Self-taught, he honed his skills through research and hard work.

He started his culinary career in Belgium and worked in various kitchens across Europe, from the Netherlands, France, England, to Ireland. In 2001, he returned to Lisbon, where he became co-owner and chef of notable restaurants.

Chef Pedro is also the author of cookbooks, including “The Rebirth of the Acorn” and “Bookless Kitchen,” and in 2012, he saw his name enter the Guinness World Records for leading the preparation of the ‘Largest Omelette in the World.’

Come taste Pedro Mendes’ unique creations. Reserve your table now and embark on this gastronomic journey with us!
